JUDGEMENT

(1.) C.R. 8729 -w/85 was filed by the applicants in the Calcutta High Court on 3.7.85 praying for a direction to the respondents :

(2.) The writ application was received on transfer by this Bench under Sec. 29 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, and was registered as T.A. 1301 of 1986.

(3.) There are 21 applicants in this case. All of them are graduates and they were appointed in the Eastern Railway on different dates between 21.7.70 and 19.11.83. They became Clerks, Gr. II in the scale of Rs. 260 -400/ - on various dates between 20.3.78 and 19.11.83. Their relevant particulars are given at Annexure -A. They appeared for selection as Clerk, Gr. I on 12.2.84 and the panel was published on 18.1.85.
