The present petition under Section 482, Cr.P.C., has been filed by the petitioners, namely, Raman Kumar, Dharamvir Singh, Sushila Singh, Kapil Singh and Jyoti Singh, for quashing of FIR No. 84, dated 5.4.2012, for the offences punishable under Sections 406 and 498-A, IPC, registered at Police Station, Sector 26, Chandigarh, and all the consequential proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of compromise.

Vide order dated 6.5.2014, this Court had directed the affected parties to appear on 20.5.2014 before the learned Area Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh, for getting their respective statements recorded with regard to the compromise. The said Court was also directed to submit a detailed report in that regard along with copies of the statements on or before the date fixed by this Court.

In compliance of the above, the petitioners (five in number) as well as respondent No. 2-complainant, Mamta, did appear before learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh, and got recorded their respective statements with regard to the compromise. Respondent No. 2-complainant, Mamta, stated as under: "The present case was got registered by me against my husband Raman Kumar and his other family members. Due to the intervention of the family friends, colleagues etc., the matter has been compromised between us without any threat, inducement, coercion on the part of anyone. A copy of the compromise/settlement agreement dated 6.3.2014 is Ex. CX and copy of my Aaddhar Card is Ex. CY. (Original of both the documents seen and returned.) I have no objection, if the present FIR against all the accused is quashed by the Hon'ble High Court." Similar joint statement, admitting the factum of the compromise, was suffered by the petitioners.;
