JUDGEMENT

- (1.) The matrix of the facts and material, culminating in the commencement, relevant for disposal of the instant petition and emanating from the record, is that, initially in the wake of complaint of complainant Jagir Singh son of Arjun Singh-respondent No.2 (for brevity "the complainant"), a criminal case was registered against petitionersaccused Harnek Singh and others, by means of FIR No.81 dated 24.4.2012 (Annexure P-1), for the commission of an offence punishable under Section 420 IPC (offences u/ss 465, 468 & 471 IPC were lateron added, vide DDR No.37 dated 4.5.2012 (Annexure P2), by the police of Police Station Sadar Tarn Taran.
(2.) The police exonerated petitioner Nos.2 to 5 and reiterated the allegations only against petitioner No.1. During the course of investigation of the criminal case, good sense prevailed and the parties have amicably settled their dispute, by way of compromise deed dated 9.11.2012 (Annexure P3).

Having compromised the matter, now the petitioners-accused have preferred the present petition, to quash the impugned FIR (Annexure P-1) and all other subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, invoking the provisions of Section 482 Cr.PC, inter-alia, pleading that with the intervention of respectables, the parties have amicably settled their disputes, as per compromise deed (Annexure P3). They belong to the same village and intend to promote harmony between them. They have redressed their grievances and have no ill-will against each other. The complainant and other respondents have no objection, if the criminal case registered against the petitioners-accused, by virtue of FIR (Annexure P-1) is quashed. On the strength of aforesaid grounds, the petitioners-accused sought to quash the impugned FIR (Annexure P-1) and all other consequent proceedings arising thereto, in the manner depicted here-in-above.;
