JUDGEMENT

(1.) Having married with each other of their own free will but against the wishes of private respondents, petitioners have approached this Court under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (for short 'Cr.P.C.'), invoking its inherent jurisdiction, seeking direction against official respondents to protect their life and liberty at the hands of private respondents. Notice of motion was issued and pursuant thereto, reply by way of affidavit Ajinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, City Gurdaspur, on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 3, has been filed.
(2.) Learned counsel for the State, on instructions from ASI Avtar Singh, Police Station Sadar, Gurdaspur, submits that both the petitioners have got their statements recorded that they are living happily as husband and wife and no threat perception subsists any further. They further stated in their statement, which is attached as Annexsure R-1 and R-2 with the reply, that they do not require police protection.
(3.) Learned counsel for the State further submits that in view of the above developments having taken place, the present petition has become infructuous and may be disposed of, as such.;
