JUDGEMENT

RAJASEKHAR MANTHA,J. - (1.) The writ petitioners are six cooperative Housing Societies. The land on which their Society has been established belongs to the Steel Authority of India Ltd. at Durgapur Steel Plant (SAIL).
(2.) It is submitted that sometime in the year 1993-94, a large track of the land was allotted by the SAIL for the benefit of the retired and current employees to enable them to construct residential building and Housing Units after forming separate Co-operative Societies. The land was demised to the Societies by way of lease for a period of 33 years with a covenant for renewal thereof for a further period of 33 years each.
(3.) As many as 62 Co-operative Societies were formed by various sections of employees of SAIL both current as well as retired.;
