Subrata Talukdar, J. - (1.) In this writ petition the petitioner has claimed a writ in the nature of Mandamus directing the Respondent/Army Authorities to issue a letter of appointment in his favour for the post of Sol Tech (Army Air Defence) (for short the said post) connected to the written examination held on 31st July, 2016 at the Barrackpore Office of the Army/Respondents.

The narrative, in short, made out in this writ petition is that the petitioner participated in the physical and medical tests held on 24th May, 2016 and 25th May, 2016 at Barrackpore Unit pursuant to the advertisement issued in April, 2016. Thereafter the petitioner was called for a written test on 31st July, 2016 wherein he was provided with an identification number and a roll number.

On 31st July, 2016 the written examination was held and, in or around 16th August, 2016, the petitioner learnt of the fact that the results of the written examination have been published at the Barrackpore Centre. However, on visiting the Barrackpore Centre on 17th August, 2016, the petitioner did not find his roll number in the merit list displayed on the notice board.;
