JUDGEMENT
Subrata Talukdar, J. -
(1.) Legend tells us that powerful kings in the days of yore would expand their territories, i.e. the boundaries of their kingdoms, by performing the Ashwamedha Yagna. A splendid horse would be allowed to wander followed by the King' army.
(2.) Unstopped, the territory which the Horse crossed would automatically cede to the King. Stopped, the outcome would await a battle between the opposing forces.
(3.) The Horse of the Escheats and Forfeitures Act, 2012 (for short the 2012 Act) has been stopped by the Board of Trustees for the Part of Kolkata (for short the Board) before this Court apropo large tracts of land to the East and West of Strand Road, Kolkata running parallel to the eastern bank of the River Hooghly.;
