JUDGEMENT

- (1.) The petitioner, who had submitted an application for seeking admission in M.Sc. (Computer Science) in University of Allahabad (hereinafter referred to as the 'University'), has filed this petition for a direction upon the respondent-University to permit the petitioner to appear at the entrance examination of M.Sc. (Computer Science) so that she can be considered for admission to the said course.

It is stated that for seeking admission to M.Sc. in Computer Science, a candidate is required to appear in an admission test and the admit card which was downloaded by the petitioner on 9th May, 2013 for appearing at this admission test mentioned that the petitioner had to appear in Computer Science paper on 15th May, 2013 but when the petitioner went to the Centre she was not permitted to appear in the entrance examination and subsequently she came to know that she had not been permitted to appear in the Computer Science paper on 15th May, 2013 because she had not appeared in the Mathematics paper which was held on 13th May, 2013. It is further stated that the petitioner could not appear in the Mathematics paper as information was not given to her that the Mathematics paper would be held on 13th May, 2013.
(3.) In the counter affidavit filed by the University relevant pages of the Brochure issued by the University for Post-Graduate Admission Test-2013 have been enclosed. Apart from mentioning the eligibility requirements for admission to M.Sc. in Computer Science, it is provided in the Brochure that for admission to M.Sc. in Computer Science every candidate has to appear in the admission test conducted for two subjects. The first subject is Mathematics which is compulsory and for the second subject a candidate has to opt for either Physics or Computer Science. Subsequently, the Director of Admissions also filed an affidavit in which it has been stated that the Mathematics paper was held on 13th May, 2013 and information was conveyed to all the candidates by Mobile and internet and by pasting the notice on the Notice-Board of the Pravesh Bhawan. It also states that initially the Admit-Card which was loaded on the website did mention that Computer Science paper would be held on 15th May, 2013 but soon thereafter another Admit-Card was loaded on 9th May, 2013 in which it was mentioned that Subject-I examination would be held on 13th May, 2013 and Subject-II examination would be held on 15th May, 2013 and as many as 58 candidates out of 103 appeared in the Mathematics paper that was held on 13th May, 2013.;
