JUDGEMENT

SUDHANSHU DHULIA, J. - (1.) HEARD Mr. Amar Shukla, Advocate for the petitioners and Mr. Paresh Tripathi, Additional Chief Standing Counsel for the State of Uttarakhand.
(2.) ACCORDING to the petitioners, they have applied for a temporary permit under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the Rules which have been framed under the said Act. Such an application has to be disposed of within a period of one month. The exact provision on which the petitioners are relying is Rule 61 of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1998 which reads as under : - "61. Applications for contract carriages and private service vehicles permits : Disposal of - The State Transport Authority or a Regional Transport Authority shall so arrange its business that applications for contract carriages and private service vehicles permits are normally disposed of within one month of their receipt in the office of the authority."
(3.) LEARNED counsel for the State Mr. Paresh Tripathi submits that the writ petition be disposed of at the admission stage with appropriate directions to the authorities. In view of the above, the petition is disposed of with the direction to the Secretary, State Transport Authority, Dehradun i.e. respondent no. 2 to dispose of the pending application of the petitioners within a period of one month from the date a certified copy of this order is produced before him.;
