THE writ petition before me, which has been lodged by the Nyaya Panchayat Nagar, raises a question whether the Nyaya Panchayat could, in a criminal case triable by it, take a bond from the accused for his appearance before it and on his non-appearance subsequent to the execution of the bond forfeit the bond.
