(1.) We have heard learned Amicus Curiae, Ms. U. Das and Mr. B. Bora, learned Addl. Public Prosecutor, who have also taken us through the evidence and materials on record.
(2.) This appeal is directed against the judgment and order dated 15-07-2016, passed by learned Sessions Judge, Jorhat, in Sessions Case No. 118(J-J)/2014. By the said judgment, learned Sessions Judge convicted the appellant u/s 302 IPC and sentenced him to imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs. 15,000/- with default stipulation.
(3.) As per prosecution case, on 18-06-2014, at about 10.30 PM, the accused had quarrel with his wife, the deceased, and he killed her. The PW 1, Pabitra Barman lodged the FIR (Ext.-1), on the basis of which, police registered Titabar P.S. Case No. 122/2014 u/s 302 IPC and commenced investigation. In course of investigation, inquest report was prepared by PW 7, the investigating officer, and post mortem examination was conducted by Dr. Saurabh Jyoti Gogoi (PW 6).;
