JUDGEMENT

(1.) This Appeal is directed against the Judgment and Order dated 18 th June, 2008 passed by learned Special Judge, Gadchiroli in Special Case No. 7 of 2005, whereby the appellant-accused was convicted of the offence punishable under Sections 7 and 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act and was sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay fine of Rs. 500/-, in default of which to suffer further simple imprisonment for two months for offence punishable under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He is further sentenced to suffer rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay fine of Rs. 1000/-, in default of which to suffer further simple imprisonment for three months for the offence punishable under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
